Week 7

This week we finished up our internet awareness project it was fun coming up with ideas and making my own flyer and brochure gave me a little bit of an idea of what it will be like when I am actually a teacher. We have only two more classes left I cannot believe it time has flown by, but I have completely enjoyed this course to the fullest and will miss it. I am a bit nervous for the final project though. I did have a question would you like us to make the entire slide show a game like are you smarter than a 5th grader or something or is was that just an idea and we can do what we want? I just was not sure if we were to have a game in our slide show if that would be the entire project or if we needed to do more?

Week 6

I completely enjoyed working with Picasa I have never used any type of program that dealt with pictures. It was really enjoyable to play with the pictures I had taken with my friends on our hike it was fun to see what I could do with each one. A lot of the pictures looked a lot better after using the different effects you can really make the picture look completely different. Being not very familiar with powerpoint these activities and assignments have been good for me to get a feel of powerpoint and what can be done with it. The final is going to be fun, but challenging as I am still learning how powerpoint works, but I am excited for it.

Week 5

Learning power point has been a lot of fun, but challenging at the same time. I am not familiar with power point and so it has been difficult to understand how to use the cool effects. I was working on a project in power point and could not figure out how to do something, I was watching my 10 year old nephew at the time and asked if he knew how to do it, he came over and showed me exactly what to do in the matter of 2 minutes I was so amazed. I cannot believe how much he knew about power point, apparently instead of playing games on the computer he plays with power point it was very helpful to me that he loves it so much. I have enjoyed the book "50 power point activities" it is a easy to understand and takes you step by step on how to finish an activity which is really nice for us new beginners. I continue learning new skills that will benefit me in the future as a student and a person, I look forward to the next couple of weeks of this course.

Week 4

Technology is so amazing! I cannot believe how much there is out in the world that can benefit us in so many ways. I have loved this class and learning all the things I had no idea about just a few weeks a go. I feel so accomplished knowing I am able to make my own web page. Picasa is an amazing site that I have told many friend and family members about and they want to begin using it as well, I cannot believe it is free! I am still playing around with it trying to figure out each feature and how exactly it works, but I hope to catch on soon. Power point is also something I am not very familiar with I have done one basic power point years ago so it will be nice to be able to know how to make a creative, interactive power point.

Week 3

I am enjoying this course and learning a lot about technology that I did not know before. I have found the web page we are making as well as the websites are very useful, they excite me! The assignments are fun, before I begin I think to myself how I am going to accomplish this, but once it is done I take pride in my work. I do have a question about the CultureGram assignment, for the assignment we are making that associates with our Country are we supposed to post it as a link to CultureGram so the students log on and do the assignment through CultureGram? Or do we just get information from CultureGram and make an assignment for the kids to do? I have finished the assignment except for this portion and want to make sure I do it correctly. I have found this class to be very useful to me now and know it will be helpful in the future as well.

Week 2

This week was a lot of fun, I have enjoyed learning how to use technology better and how to make my own web page. I am not one to have my own blog or to go all out on my facebook account describing who I am, so the All About Me page took me a bit out of my comfort zone, but I ended up thoroughly enjoying it. I am a perfectionist when it comes to scrap booking or with anything crafty so the All About Me page probably took me far longer than it should have, but I did get it done before noon which I was very happy about! :) The websites that were shown to us in class today I feel are going to be very beneficial in the future. I am excited to learn these new tools and better way of doing things to insure my students are getting the best education possible when the time comes that I graduate and become a teacher!

First Reflection

Wednesday was our first day in our Technology in Education class and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am looking forward to this course. I am not very familiar with technology, it is fascinating to learn and see all of the amazing things that can be done through technology. I have a lot of friends that have blogs and have told me for awhile now that I need to make one, but I never have. In class on Wednesday when we made our blogs I really enjoyed it and look forward to blogging during this course and who knows I may end up with a personal blog of my own. :)
